Californians to Feinstein: Represent us, not Bush

Thu, 01/10/2008 - 19:33 - clark

A wireless phone company in California will deliver 2,000 letters to Senator Dianne Feinstein's office asking the senator to represent her constituents and not President Bush's interests.

Here's the letter that CREDO Mobile will deliver:

Dear Sen. Feinstein,

I am writing to urge you to stop voting with the Bush agenda and start representing your constituents.

In recent months, you have veered sharply to the right and voted in direct opposition to the wishes of Californians -- and in conflict with your own record of support for civil liberties.

Thanks to you, torture-enabler Michael Mukasey is now U.S. attorney general. And Leslie Southwick -- an ultraconservative judge with a history of racist, homophobic decisions -- has a lifetime appointment to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The day after your Southwick vote, you toured areas of the state hit by wildfires arm in arm with President Bush and told friends of your "illuminating" talk with him aboard Air Force One.

When you cozy up to the president, you not only hand him victories on important issues, you provide cover for other weak Democrats to do the same. It's time for you to stop siding with the president and stand for the people who elected you. Please tell me how you intend to address this issue.

Here is a letter I sent her back on 12/20/07

I'm with you on this one, see the letter below. Everyone should writer her one. Check out my other letters at http://www.thinkn2action.blogspot.com/

Dear Senator Feinstein,

Just a quick note to express my deep and sincere sadness and disappointment in your support of the Bush administration's efforts to quash any inquiry into its illegal wiretapping program. The telecom immunity provision in the new FISA bill shocks the conscious, as its goal is to give those who aided and abetted illegal spying on American citizens a free pass on their illegal, FOR-PROFIT, activity. It is hard to imagine how rewarding the wrongdoers would provide any incentive for others to stand as a bulwark against overreaching executive power. American citizens, including your constituents, are paying attention to this issue, and they are sickened by your efforts as a shill for the Bush administration.

My understanding is that you intend to retire after you current term expires. If so, then your lame duck status provides some insulation against the backlash of your constituents. However, such an end comes with a heavy toll, as you will be viewed NOT as a champion of the interests of your constituents, but as a corrupt cog in an oppressive machine. You legacy will not merely be tarnished, such as that which happens to aged silver, but rotted, decayed, and maggot-ridden, such as that which happens to hamburger left to spoil at the bottom of a trashcan.

As there is still time to correct your error, and undo any and all harm, you hold the power to still make a difference. Everyone errs, but it takes real courage to correct those mistakes. Supporting wrongdoing is indefensible. I strongly urge you to stand on the right side of this issue.

Sincerely,

James H. Pyle

what the heck?????!!!!!

what the heck?????!!!!!

Wow. Who should Feinstein

Wow. Who should Feinstein decide to "represent"? The 2000 people who wrote letters or the other 35,000,000 residents of California?

Feinstein must represent

Feinstein must represent those constituents who express their concerns, their opinions, their values. Why do you think lobbyists are paid so handsomely? If you disagree then you should write a letter of your own to Ms. Feinstein.

As speaker of the house, she

As speaker of the house, she speaks for more than just California. 35 million people? try half of the US. As an American, I don't think she represents me. I've told her so. She needs to put impeachment back on the table.

what?

speaker of the house?

IT'S GOING TO TAKE MASSIVE PROTEST(S)

LIKE IN THE 60's and early 70's... OR like the Mexicans did to protest illegal immigrants being prosecuted and deported... ILLEGAL Mexicans can network, unite and protest better than the LEGAL citizens of the U.S. WE SHOULD BE ASHAMED!

Sad but true...

Your right Nikolia. Its sad too but I am barely able to financially function much less find the time to protest. I don't know how you all fare but its hard for me to even have 2 meals a day for 5 months now. Not due to immature credit card spending but the overall costs and the little income made is out of balance. No time to protest, just work and sleep. Go search for benefits and such for help you say? Sorry, because I am white and not illegal they refuse to help me. I'm on my own with no light at the end. Thanks Bush your so called "solid market" has crushed me.

please stop using the

please stop using the concept that there are two parties, it is completely a charade, and binds you into a paralyzing fiction, rendering you incapable of any kind of thinking or action that can change things

there is only "the party" and it does what it wants

if you accept that, then maybe you can find some effective action, maybe... but if you ignore it, nothing you do in any way can be effective
