The voting machines in Horry County, South Carolina were not reset to zero before the first voters came to cast their ballots, the state's Election Commission admitted today.
The Commission stated that the technicians perform a "clear and test" procedure on all machines prior to the machines accepting votes, but in this case, it was not carried out before people arrived at the precincts to vote.
"This resets the test votes recorded on the machine to zero," a press release by the Commission read. "Without performing this measure, the voting system will not allow machines to be opened for voting on election day."
But the Commission blamed the delay on human error, even though Election Systems & Software voting machines used in South Carolina were decertified by the California Secretary of State last year, after the company refused to provide information necessary to review the voting systems, as required by state law.
"Some voters cast paper ballots today in 15-20 precincts because voting machines were not ready to accept votes," the Commission stated. "This issue was due to a human error in preparing the machines for the primary.
The 2008 Primary season has been wracked by allegations of vote fraud stemming from the use of unreliable and easily hackable voting machines belonging to Diebold and ES&S and other vendors.
New Hampshire was forced to carry out a state-wide manual recount after discrepancies emerged between hand counted and machine counted votes.

Counting the votes in secret
Just as stated in the SC Constitution ballots will be secret BUT the counting will NOT BE BUT IS. Constitutions in America are solely for political lip service as they do not follow and adhere to them at all. The GOP is a War party excluding one lone politician Ron Paul that is a true republican with values that are real. The status quo want Hillary and so it will be 36 years of hell.

Don't believe that both parties are involved in the election fraud? Why didn't the dems in congress INSIST on changes and provide legislation that would change the way we vote in this nation after Bush was selected in 2000 and 2004? Because they knew they will be the selected candidates this time.

The person each and every individual voter actually chose as their choice.
This isn't about any one candidate winning but about the votes of each voter being counted accurately and without problems. this just should not be that big of a deal...yet every damn general election, it is.
That's why Dennis Kucinich called for a recount in New Hampshire. Not because he knew he'd win (he knew he didn't have a chance) but because he knew there were issues and the people's choices were being ignored. That makes him the most honorable of candidates (and I am not a democrat).

No 'selection' has been credible or valid during the last decade. Before, during and right after Every 'selection' there is widespread evidence of fraud. class action lawsuit!!
There should be a class action lawsuit formed against Diebold and the other manufacturing corporations, first thing. Then have set up a national fundraiser, and have a union set up demanding going back to paper ballots. That won't be enough though, people need to start volunteering to make sure the votes are being counted right, and they match up, (which would take alot of people counting, compared to quick optical scans). It's going to take money, lawsuits, unions, and volunteering to win a fight against the corporate rigging system. Spread this article around!

I live in Horry County and our local paper The Sun News ran several articles in the week prior to the elections quoting "officials" assuring us that although other parts of the country had experienced troubles with their voting machines, ours were very "safe" and would be used.
