Significance of November 8

November 8, 1923: In what came to be known as the Beer Hall Putsch, National Socialist German Workers Party leader Adolph Hitler and other members of the Kampfbund executed an unsuccessful coup d'etat to overthrow the German government. Although the Putsch failed, Adolph Hitler went on to become the Chancellor of Germany.

November 8, 2000: Florida announced that George W. Bush defeated Al Gore by 2,000 votes in the state at the presidential election, thereby giving the Republican candidate the number of electoral college votes necessary to win the election. Although the decision was legally challenged, Bush went on to become the President of the United States.

Historical coincidence or history repeating itself?
